Driven by their own faith and based on their shared conviction that Christ calls people to be a positive influence in each other’s lives, CLDC staff and team members deeply care about campers at a personal level. Through their actions, they want to be mentors, role models and facilitators of personal growth for boys and young men looking for a difference in their lives.
Camp counsellors (“Chiefs”) live with the campers at the camp site and are accessible 24 hours a day. Camp Director Ron Weber and program supervisor Tom Weber oversee camp operations and “run with the group” at different times as well. CLDC directors, supervisors and counsellors are experienced in working with children and young adults. They are trained and certified in First Aid and in conflict resolution including proper restraining techniques. Volunteer staff members serve in a great number of supporting roles as cooks, in maintenance, administration, etc.
On the organizational side, camp is led by a Board of Directors that meets once every month to keep developing the vision, come alongside the team, look after finances and administration, and ensure accountability and integrity within the organization. At present, CLDC’s Board of Directors consists of Don Weber (Chairman), Norma Martin, Trevor Martin, Terry Kraemer, Ron Weber, and Ulrich Frisse. No matter in what role they serve, CLDC team and Board members share the same passion for camp and commitment to campers’ success.
