WHAT IS CRANE LAKE DISCOVERY CAMP?

Located on 200 acres of pristine wilderness on Crane Lake near MacTier in the heart of Ontario’s Muskokas, Crane Lake Discovery Camp (CLDC) is a therapeutic wilderness camp for boys and young men ages 10 to 15.

Since its inception in 2004, CLDC has positively impacted the lives of over 250 boys and young men through yearly summer camps. Under our new year-round format, to be launched in 2023, CLDC keeps providing campers with positive group experiences, such as discovering nature, fishing, and wilderness canoe trips, while equipping them with the life and academic skills they need to succeed in their regular home, school, and work environments.

OUR ROOTS

In 1991, while serving as a camp counsellor in a boys camp in the US, Ron Weber had a dream of starting a wilderness camp in his native Ontario. Crane Lake Discovery Camp (CLDC) is the realization of that dream and a not-for-profit organization. Since 2004, over 250 campers have shared Ron’s dream.

THE CONCEPT

Crane Lake Discovery Camp (CLDC) is built on the concept of therapeutic wilderness camping. At CLDC, campers learn and continuously work on improving important life skills, such as goal setting, adopting daily routines, problem-solving, communicating and being accountable within the group.
